ADAMS TOWNSHIP — The Clinton-Massie tennis team defeated Little Miami 3-2 Wednesday in the regular season finale on the CMHS courts.

The win puts Massie at 18-2 on the year and sends the team to the Division II Sectional tournament at the Lindner Family Tennis Center in Mason on Tuesday.

Clinton-Massie trailed 2-0 after third singles and second doubles finished.

In the three remaining matches, play was going to the third set, CM coach Julie Kirby said.

“It was such an exciting night to watch tennis,” Kirby said.

Mikayla Wonderly and Brylie Green won their 20th match of the season at first doubles while Addison Swope at first singles and Maria Jones at second singles also picked up wins to secure the team victory

”These girls have worked so hard this season and everyone is so proud of them,” Kirby said. “In tennis it can be hard to come together as a team but these girls did and they were able to win league for the first time in 19 years and they were able to achieve the most wins ever at 18 wins in a single season. Two players, Wonderly and Green, hit 20 wins in a season this week and were runners up at the GCTCA tournament. Maria Jones came in first at the GCTCA tournament. It has just simply been a phenomenal year. I was the lucky coach to go on the ride with them.”
