Trio of teams earn top 5 seeds in volleyball, soccer sectionals

A trio of teams earned top five seeds in the upcoming soccer and volleyball sectional tournaments, which were posted Sunday on the Southwest District Athletic Board website.

In volleyball, East Clinton (16-2) earned the No. 3 seed in the Div. III Norwood sectional tournament. The Astros will play Noon Oct. 22 at Norwood High School against either No. 17 Finneytown or No. 18 Georgetown, a match set for 5 p.m. Oct. 19 at NHS.

Wilmington and Clinton-Massie are in the Div. II Lebanon sectional. The Hurricane is the No. 5 seed and will play No. 8 Oakwood 6:30 p.m. Oct. 20 at Lebanon High School. Clinton-Massie is No. 11 seed and gets top-seeded Badin 6:30 p.m. Oct. 18 at LHS.

Blanchester is in the Div. III Mariemont sectional bracket. The No. 8 Ladycats will face No. 7 Mariemont 8:30 p.m. Oct. 17.

In girls soccer, Clinton-Massie and Wilmington are in the Division II Central 2 sectional. The Falcons (11-0-2) are the No. 5 seed and will play either at No. 4 Badin (7-4-3) or at home against No. 11 Stivers (7-3) 2 p.m. Oct. 22. The Badin-Stivers match is Oct. 18. Wilmington (3-11) is No. 12 and will play at No. 6 Valley View (6-7-2) 7 p.m. Oct. 18.

The Blanchester girls soccer team is in the Div. III South 2 sectional. The Ladycats (3-12) are No. 13 and plays at No. 12 Fayetteville-Perry (5-7-2) 7 p.m. Oct. 18 in the opening round.

In boys soccer, Clinton-Massie and Wilmington are in the Division II Central 2 sectional. The Falcons (7-1-6) are the No. 8 seed and will play at No. 2 seed Oakwood (9-2-3) 7 p.m. Oct. 17 while Wilmington (2-5-4) is the N0. 11 seed and will play at No. 9 Ponitz (8-1-1) 8 p.m. Oct. 17.
