Orcutt on Fantasy Football: Plenty of help on waivers

0

Here we are heading into Week 7 and the Waiver Wire continues to be a hopping place. Plenty of players you can pick up to help your team through injuries and bye weeks.

This is when navigating the Waiver Wire gets tricky. You have to try to get those players to replace injured players or to boost your lineup. This also presents some opportunities. Some teams have been hoarding players on their benches and will have to cut them to get through bye weeks. Take advantage of those teams and jump back on the Waiver Wire later in the week.

Alright here we go:

RB Kyren Williams (Rams) (8% Rostered on Yahoo)

It is unknown what is going on with RB Cam Akers but there is a strong belief that he has played his last game for the Los Angeles Rams. This makes their RB picture very blurry. RB Darrell Henderson Jr. (86% ) is the first RB to get the shot to replace Akers but he has an injury history of his own. Kyren Williams is a 5th round draft pick out of Notre Dame who was having a good pre-season until he was sidelined with a high-ankle sprain. He is healthy now and should be grabbed as someone who has an opportunity to move up on this depth chart.

RB Deon Jackson (Colts) (43% Rostered on Yahoo)

With Jonathon Taylor and Nyheim Hines sidelined with injuries Deon Jackson got the start as the Colts primary RB and he didn’t disappoint. He rushed for 42 yards, caught 10 passes for 79 yards and scored a TD. Now Taylor and Hines should be back this week, so Jackson takes a backseat but if either one was to get injured again, I think Jackson has established that he can be trusted.

RB Caleb Huntley (Falcons) (7% Rostered on Yahoo)

He served as the “lead” back in this messy backfield and had 59 rushing yards. With Cordarrelle Patterson on IR and Damien Williams not back yet, Huntley could be a bye-week replacement with good matchups against the Panthers and Chargers coming up.

Other RBs that should be rostered: Kenyan Drake (5%), D’Onta Foreman (5%), DeeJay Dallas (17%), Chuba Hubbard (4%), Dontrell Hillard (12%), Rachaad White (34%)

WR Wan’Dale Robinson (Giants) (8% Rostered on Yahoo)

The rookie is healthy, and he finally got into the Giants offense in Week 6. He caught 3 passes on 4 targets for 37 yards and a TD. He only had 14 snaps but that will change going forward. The Giants are desperate for any WR to step up after a bunch of injuries and ineffectiveness.

WR Tyquan Thornton (Patriots) (1% Rostered on Yahoo)

Thornton is another rookie that we have been waiting to see what they can do once they get on the field. He received his opportunity in Week 6 and had 6 receptions and two TDs. If he can establish trust with his QB, he could be a viable starter on your fantasy roster.

WR Alec Pierce (Colts) (38% Rostered on Yahoo)

Three weeks in a row and three double digit fantasy out-puts. As this team gets going, his production goes up and will continue to be a huge part if this team. If you need a WR that can give you 10 points per week, Pierce could fill that void.

Other WRs that need to be rostered: Robbie Anderson (13%), Rondale Moore (46%), Donovan Peoples-Jones (15%)

TE Robert Tonyan (Packers) (42% Rostered on Yahoo)

The Packers need someone who Rodgers trust to target. Tonyan has been that pass catcher and he has been consistent. In Week 6 he had 10 receptions for 90 yards. If you need a consistent TE, Tonyan could fill the void.

TE Evan Engram (Jaguars) (37% Rostered on Yahoo)

The last couple of weeks he had double digit fantasy points for the Jaguars. As long as this continues, he gives you what you want in a TE.

Other TEs that need to be Rostered: Jake Ferguson (1%), Daniel Bellinger (3%), Greg Dulcich (1%) and Eric Saubert (1%)

QB Justin Fields (Bears) (38% Rostered on Yahoo)

He has put up back-to-back weeks of 17 fantasy points. He is starting to get going passing the ball and he is running the ball well. I would only consider him as a streamer or bye-week fill in or in a two QB leagues. Pick him up if you need him.

QB Daniel Jones (Giants) (30% Rostered on Yahoo)

When the Giants brought in Brian Dabol as the head coach, the thought was the offense would take a step forward. That happened and of course Jones is leading the way. he has been special in the passing yards department but he is running the ball, a lot which is gold in the Fantasy Football world.

Other QBs to look into rostering: Marcus Mariota (14%), Ryan Tannehill (17%), and Taylor Heinicke (1%)
