Seven players rushed for at least 200 yards in the Football Bowl Subdivision over the weekend, and three of them did it in the same game.
Mississippi’s Quinshon Judkins ran 24 times for 214 yards and teammate Zach Evans ran 17 times for 208 in a 42-27 loss to Arkansas on Saturday. The Razorbacks’ Raheim Sanders had 232 yards on 24 attempts.
It was the first time there had been three 200-yard rushers in a game since Middle Tennessee’s Richie James and I’Tavius Mathers and Florida Atlantic’s Devin Singletary each got loose on Nov. 26, 2016, according to Sportradar.
Minnesota’s Mohamed Ibrahim had the top performance of the week, going for a career-high 263 yards on 39 carries against Iowa. It was Ibrahim’s 19th consecutive 100-yard rushing game, the longest streak by an FBS player since 2000.
Ibrahim is averaging an FBS-high 152.4 yards over his 10 games, and his 1,524 yards are second behind Chase Brown’s 1,582 in 11 games for Illinois.
Texas’ Bijan Robinson had 25 carries for 242 yards against Kansas; Kimani Vidal of Troy had 29 for 242 against Louisiana-Monroe; and Wyoming’s Titus Swen ran 19 times for 212 yards against Boise State.
NO NEED TO PASS
Air Force, Army and Navy and their triple-option offenses won their games without completing a pass.
Since 2000, Air Force has pulled off the feat four times, Army nine times and Navy eight times, according to Sportradar, but never all on the same day.
Haaziq Daniels was 0 for 2 in Air Force’s 24-12 win over Colorado State, Tyhier Tyler was 0 for 1 in Army’s 34-17 win over Connecticut and Xavier Arline was 0 for 1 in Navy’s 17-14 upset of Central Florida.
LONGEST FIELD GOAL
Joshua Karty’s 61-yard field goal for Stanford against California was the longest in the nation this season and enhanced his resume for the Lou Groza Award.
Karty’s field goal was his second of the game and came on the last play of a 27-20 loss. The Groza Award semifinalist is 16 for 16 on field goals this season and 24 of 29 for his career. His only misses in two years as the Cardinal kicker have been from 49 yards and longer.
Arkansas State’s Dominic Zvada kicked a 56-yarder against Texas State on Saturday that is the nation’s second-longest.
PICKS IN BUNCHES
Notre Dame first-year cornerback Benjamin Morrison has all five of his interceptions in November after picking off three passes against Boston College. Morrison’s first two came in the opening quarter and this third in the third quarter.
The previous Notre Dame player with three picks in a game was Harrison Smith against Miami in the 2010 Sun Bowl.
Morrison’s five interceptions are most by an Irish player since Manti Te’o had seven in 2012.
PENALTY-FREE GAME
The Iowa-Minnesota game was the first in 36 years in the Bowl Subdivision in which no penalties were called. Iowa won 13-10.
The previous penalty-free game matched Army and Navy in 1986. Army won 27-7.
HARD-EARNED POINTS
Saturday marked the first time in 59 years that the Big Ten had four conference games with neither team reaching 20 points, according to ESPN Stats & Info.
Seven of the eight teams involved were from the West Division. Five of the league’s eight lowest-scoring teams for the season are from the West.
