Astros soar to record heights at Royal Z Lanes


WILMINGTON — The East Clinton boys bowling team had a record-setting night Wednesday against Bethel-Tate at Royal Z Lanes.

The Astros had seven individual 200 games en route to a pair of school records in a 2,794 to 2,135 win over the Tigers.

East Clinton had an 823 baker series, including games of 219, 223 and 209. Lukas Runk led the team scoring with a 456 series but Preston Behr (425) and Ricky Kempke (422) were right behind.

“The boys were hitting on all cylinders,” coach Dale Wallace Jr. said.

The win continues East Clinton’s season-best start at 8-0.

The girls were defeated by Bethel-Tate 1720 to 1593.

Serena Williams had a 196 personal best series, which included a personal best 116 game. Lily Beers was the top EC bowler with a 312. The girls also had a season-high 161 baker game.
