BBK Final: Williamsburg 80, Blanchester 54

BLANCHESTER — Williamsburg’s defense forced 26 Blanchester turnovers and led to numerous easy baskets Tuesday in an 80-54 WHS win at the BHS gym.

Williamsburg was 20 for 33 from the field in the middle two periods, outscored Blanchester 48-31 and won for the 10th time in 14 games. WHS is 6-2 in the SBAAC National Division.

Blanchester was scrappy all night but simply couldn’t handle the Williamsburg pressure. BHS is 3-11 overall, 2-6 in the division.

Bryce Sipple had 17 points and 12 rebounds to lead Blanchester. Kaden Cromer, before exiting with an injury, had 11 points. Nick Taylor and Jansen Wymer had five rebounds each for BHS; Wymer handed out four assists. Zach West had three steals.

Williamsburg had 12 players score but none more than 13 points in registering a season-high point total.

Toby Humphries led with 13. Kaidon Whisman had 10 points, six rebounds, four assists and five steals. Carter Sunderman had 11 points and five rebounds.

WHS started fast, leading 5-1, but Blanchester seized a 13-11 lead after one quarter. Wymer (five) and Cromer (four) had home team thinking upset. WHS won the first meeting 67-41.

Blanchester still led 19-18 in the second when Williamsburg began to take control. An 11-0 run made it 39-24 and WHS steadily pulled away from there.
