The Pride of Wilmington marching band will present its 2018 competition show “… A Thousand Words” this season.
The show title is based on the phrase “A picture is worth a thousand words.”
The show will incorporate three large picture frames where students will act out various stages of life or emotions that match the music.
The 100 member band will travel to three district competitions this season – at Kettering Fairmont High School, at Dublin Jerome High School, and at Turpin High School.
Upon receiving a superior rating at one of those shows, the band will advance to the Ohio Music Education Association State Marching Band Finals. The band will conclude its season at the Band of America Grand National Competition at Lucas Oil Stadium in Indianapolis, Ind.
In addition to the competition schedule, the Pride of Wilmington will perform at varsity football games and host the 62nd Wilmington Band Chili Supper prior to the Homecoming football game Sept. 28.
The band program can be followed on social media (Facebook, Twitter and Instagram) @wilmingtonbands.
Matt Spradlin is the director of bands for Wilmington City Schools. Band staff members are Cyndi Abbott, Ryan Bouts, Hayden Floro, Jacob Lee, Meg Moore, Brendon Sapp and Robin Spradlin.
Drum majors are Kylie Bayless and Aubrey Trusty.
