Lewis captains Marco Island team to Florida state title

Karen Lewis, former Wilmington resident, captained the Marco Island (Fla.) YMCA women’s tennis team to the USTA Women’s 50-over 6.5 combo league state championship recently.

The Florida state championship tournament was held in Daytona Beach, Fla. The Marco Island squad was 5-0 in the state tournament.

During the season, the Marco Island team was unbeaten in league play and won a district play-off match to advance to Daytona Beach.

The Marco Island team finished 15-0 this season.
