Richardson earns All-OAC track, field honors for WC

WESTERVILLE – The Wilmington College men’s track and field team tallied two All-Conference performances on the final day of the Ohio Athletic Conference Outdoor Championships hosted by Otterbein University Saturday.

The Fightin’ Quakers’ 4-x-400-meter relay squad of Luke Richardson, Elliot Phillimore, Adam Knaub and Colin Myers took third place with a time of 3:22.25.

Richardson, Myers and and Knaub teamed with Aaron Koch to finish fourth (43.71 seconds) in the 4-x-100-meter relay.

Myers completed his second All-OAC honor of the day with a career-best leap of 42-11.75 in the triple jump that earned his runner-up honors.

Richardson also competed in the event and came less than two inches from scoring (41-3.25). Myers also earned the Quakers points with a sixth-place mark of 6-3.25 in the high jump.

As a team, Wilmington placed seventh with 30 points, finishing two points ahead of both Capital University and Marietta College. Mount Union claimed the OAC title with 197 points.

The Quakers head to the Dr. Keeler Invitational hosted by North Central College May 9-10.

On Friday, Richardson finished third in the long jump (22-1) for All-OAC honors. Myers was fourth (21-0).

In the 3,000-meter steeplechase, Evan Whitaker finished ninth with a season-best time of 9:57.43.

Wilmington’s 4-x-800-meter relay squad of Elorm Dogbey, Josh Cyrus, George Rickett and Taton Bertsch took seventh in 8:30.96.
