WHS softball upends Ursuline 4-1 in tourney opener

BLUE ASH – Olivia Veidt scattered six hits in the circle and drove in three runs at the plate as Wilmington defeated Ursuline Academy 4-1 Monday in the opening round of the Division I Sectional at the Blue Ash Sports Center.

Wilmington (13-7) will play 5 p.m. Wednesday against West Clermont, 18-5 and champions of the Eastern Cincinnati Conference. WC defeated Princeton 15-0 on Monday in the tourney opener.

Wilmington will play at Goshen 4:30 p.m. Tuesday in an SBAAC American Division game.

Harlie Bickett scored three times and stole two bases for the Lady Hurricane.

“We played solid defense and got timely hits against a very strong Ursuline team,” WHS coach Brian Spurlock said.
