Massie rips Ross to advance to district title game

KINGS MILLS – After falling behind early, Clinton-Massie made a fiery response en route to a 9-1 win over Ross Tuesday in a Division II Cincinnati Sectional championship game at Kings High School.

The Lady Rams took a 1-0 lead in the top of the third but Massie plated four runs in the bottom of the inning and never looked back.

Clinton-Massie, 24-4 on the year, will play 11 a.m. Saturday at Centerville High School against Eaton for a Div. II Southwest District championship.

“This was a great team win,” CM coach Anthony Lauer said. “We were able to execute some things offensively when we needed to … to finally bust the game wide open.”

“I was proud of the effort and intensity we brought to the game,” Lauer added. “After giving up a run I wondered how we would respond. We responded with three hits, a sacrifice and four aggressively earned runs.”

That’s all Taylor Florea needed in the circle. She gave up just three hits and stuck out 12 while running her record to 16-3.

“Taylor did a great job keeping Ross hitters off balance,” Lauer said. “They have some girls who could hit but Taylor had command of her pitches.

Lindsey Carter had three hits and Natalie Lay drove in three runs. Kendall Anderson had two hits and two RBI.
