WHS girls soccer opens with 9-0 win over WCH

WILMINGTON – Six players scored goals and two goalkeepers had a shutout as the Wilmington High School girls soccer team defeated Washington 9-0 Saturday in a non-league match Alumni Field.

The victory was the first in the varsity soccer career for WHS rookie head coach Haley Ibaugh.

Karlie Morgan and Maddie Hisco had one save each in goal as the Lady Hurricane defense kept the Blue Lions in check throughout the entire match.

Petra Bray led the WHS offense with a three-goal hat trick.

Anna Borton had two goals and two assists. Other goals were scored by Kenzie Voges-Pertuset, Taylor Noszka, Olivia Massie and Autumn Housh.

Assists also were credited to Marissa Merriman, Haley Schroeder and Sophie Burt.
