EBER — The East Clinton wrestling team defeated McClain but lost to South Central Ohio League leader Miami Trace Thursday night in dual match action.

The Astros toppled the Tigers 40-16.

Josh Jones at 106, Austin Brock at 120, Samuel Morgan at 138 and Thomas Wright at 152 all recorded pins for East Clinton. Cameron Bloch at 170 won by major decision and Noah Morgan at 145 claimed a forfeit win, coach Doug Stehlin said.

“We matched up perfect with them,” Stehlin said. “There were four double-forfeits and we received two and McClain received one, resulting in seven actual matches.”

East Clinton won five of the seven.

“We have lost several matches this year due to forfeits, so it was nice to see us be able to wrestle a team that was similar to ours,” said Stehlin.

East Clinton lost to Miami Trace 64-9. Brock (pin) at 120 and Bloch (13-9 decision) at 170 recorded wins for the Astros.

Stehlin said East Clinton will compete in the Lockland Invitational Friday and Saturday, weather permitting.
