Huffman 8th, WHS girls 6th at Centerville SNL

CENTERVILLE — Led by Sophie Huffman, the Wilmington High School girls cross country team finished sixth overall Saturday in the Varsity B race at the Saturday Night Lights cross country meet at Centerville High School.

In the Varsity B race, Huffman was eighth overall in 20:48.7. There were 217 runners in the race. Jenna Burns of New Richmond was the race winner in 19:22.7.

Emma Muterspaw was the top runner for Massie, finishing 33rd in 22:14.8.

After one mile, Huffman led Muterspaw by less than a half second. At the two-mile split, Huffman was ninth while Muterspaw was 15th.

East Clinton’s Carah Antek moved up and competed in the Varsity A race. She was 225th in 23:03.9.

In the middle school eighth grade race, Wilmington did not have a complete team. Madilyn Brausch was 37th in 23:59.7 and Taliah Billingsley was 154th in 18:50.8.

In the seventh grade race, Dakota Cartner (CM) was 95th in 17:58.6; Elizabeth Bales (WIL) 140th in 21:48.1; and Dani Disney (WIL) 151st in 24:36.1.
