WILMINGTON — For the 12th time since 2003, the Blanchester tennis sits atop the SBAAC National Division.

Edging Felicity by two points in the National Division tournament Wednesday at Wilmington High School, Blanchester will look for the sweep Thursday in its Senior Night match against Bethel-Tate.

The Ladycats can do no worse than share the regular season title but with a win would claim the outright crown.

“When I watched how hard this group worked this summer, especially in the weeks leading up to the season, I started to believe that we could get back to the league title this year,” BHS coach Matt Sexton said. “I never wanted to make it about that for these girls. We were still a young team at our core, and making it too much about winning it all could have placed a huge pressure on them. However, I didn’t have to say it. They welcomed that pressure and knew what they wanted to do all along.

“This group deserves to feel proud of winning a league title. They’ve worked very hard for it.”

Maddy Coyle at second singles and Annie Trovillo at third singles claimed court championships for Blanchester.

East Clinton’s Alexia Garen and Melina Noble were the second doubles champions.
