CEDARVILLE – The Wilmington College women’s cross country team finished 22nd place at the annual All-Ohio Intercollegiate Championships hosted by Cedarville University on Saturday.

The Fightin’ Quakers also placed 10th among NCAA Division III schools. Both are improvements from a season ago.

“Our women ran a solid race in tough conditions,” Head Women’s Cross Country Coach Ron Combs said. “We didn’t run our best race today, but it still shows how much we’ve improved in one year. I’m excited to see what we can do over the second half of the season.”

Freshman Milena Wahl was Wilmington’s top finisher in the six-kilometer race, crossing the finish line in 98th with a time of 24:46.0. Fellow freshman Sydney Yontz was the next Quaker to finish, doing so in 116th (25:17.5).

Mackenzie Andrews of the University of Akron won the meet individually with a time of 21:42.6. Emma Becker of Kenyon College was the top NCAA Division III finisher with a mark of 22:44.1 that placed her 12th.

Katie Hughes, Wilmington’s top finisher at the event a season ago, finished 147ths with a time of 25:58.2. Allison Helmke (26:11.3) and Abbie Grieser (27:53.2) rounded out the Quakers’ top five finishers.

The Quakers return home to host the JennaStrong Fall Classic on Friday, Oct. 11.
