WILMINGTON — The Wilmington College men’s soccer team opened its Ohio Athletic Conference (OAC) schedule with a 3-0 win Saturday against Heidelberg University.
The win brings the Fightin Quakers to 8-2-1 on the year, 1-0 in the OAC. The Student Princes are now 2-6-1 (0-1-0 OAC).
The first goal of the game came in the 16th minute from Nati Wallis on a penalty kick. Wallis was tripped by a Heidelberg defender just inside the penalty area.
The goal was backed up in the 26th minute when Zach Burgmeier picked up a loose ball 20 yards out from the Student Princes goal and took a shot that threaded multiple defenders to score.
Ian Molfenter capped off the night for the Quakers with a goal in the 84th minute assisted by a cross from Elorm Dogbey.
Felix Maurer took the win for Wilmington, recording four saves.
The Quakers led the Student Princes in shots 15-7 and corner kicks 10-2.
Wilmington will play Muskingum 7 p.m. Wednesday at Townsend Field.
