Heidelberg flexes volleyball muscle in win over Wilmington

WILMINGTON – Heidelberg University showed why it is among the top teams in the region as the Student Princes swept the Wilmington College volleyball team 25-18, 25-17, 25-15 in the Ohio Athletic Conference opener for the Fightin’ Quakers Saturday afternoon at Fred Raizk Arena.

Heidelberg, which is receiving votes to be ranked in the most recent American Volleyball Coaches Association (AVCA) Top 25 Poll, had more than a dozen kills in each set.

Taylor McCuistion and Meghan Koch had successful service runs in the first set for WC.

Jillian Wesco tallied a season-high 14 kills for Wilmington. McCuistion had five kills and tied libero Karley Schlensker for the team lead in digs with a dozen. Mariella Szrom led the way with two block assists.

Wilmington (3-16, 0-1 OAC) hosts nationally-ranked Muskingum University Tuesday evening.
