East Clinton JV volleyball pushes win streak to 12

WILMINGTON — East Clinton extended its winning streak to 12 Monday with a 25-16, 16-25, 28-26 win over Wilmington in junior varsity volleyball action at Fred Summers Court.

“I give credit to the Wilmington team and coaching,” EC coach Kelli Jamison said. “They are looking great and playing hard. We made some mental mistakes but just kept pushing.”

Kelsi Lilly led the Astros with seven aces and nine assists. McKenzie Pence had a team-best six kills and was followed by Josie Jones who had four. Alexis Rolfe had a strong defensive match, Jamison said, with 14 good passes and five digs.

On Oct. 2, East Clinton defeated Georgetown 25-12, 25-20. Lilly and Lydia Kessler had four aces each while Hayley Mess added three. Rolfe, Pence and Kami Whiteaker had two aces each. Regan Walker had one ace. Savannah Tolle finished with four kills with Pence, Whiteaker and Jones had two each.

On Oct 1, East Clinton defeated Blanchester 13-25, 25-12, 25-13. Jamison was pleased with her team’s serving as seven players recorded an ace. Pence finished with six while Walker and Whiteaker had five each. Jones had six kills. Lauren Hadley and Pence had four each. Mess finished with three while Kessler and Whiteaker had one each. Rolfe had eight digs and seven good passes.

On Sept. 30, East Clinton topped Whiteoak 25-16, 23-25, 25-10. Jamison said seven players had aces and nine players finished with at least one kill.
