WILMINGTON, Ohio – The Wilmington College women’s cross country team had two individual finishers in the top 35 as the Fightin’ Quakers placed 13th in a field of 33 teams at the seventh annual JennaStrong Fall Classic Friday afternoon on the WC campus.

Wilmington finished the meet with 312 total points and as the fourth NCAA Division III team (behind Kenyon College, the College of Wooster and Berea College). The Ohio State University squad won the meet with 41 points.

The Quakers were led once again by a duo of freshmen as Sydney Yontz placed 27th with a time of 19:25.9 and Milena Wahl earned a 31st place finish by crossing the finish line of the five-kilometer course in 19:32.0.

Julia Rizk from Ohio State won the meet with a time of 17:27.7. Emma Becker of Kenyon was the top Division III finisher as her time of 18:24.9 garnered a fourth-place finish.

Katie Hughes, a Clinton-Massie High School alumna, was the third Quaker to score with a time of 20:27.8 and a 65th place finish. Allison Helmke (20:42.2) and Blanchester graduate Savannah Rhodes (21:40.9) rounded out Wilmington’s top five finishers.

“I was really pleased with the women’s team and the way they raced today including the improvement we made,” WC coach Ron Combs said. “We had several personal bests including Sydney [Yontz] and Milena [Wahl] broke 20:00 for the first time in their careers.”

Wilmington is next in action at home for a dual meet against Muskingum University 6 p.m. Friday.
