MADEIRA — The Blanchester girls soccer season ended Monday with a 7-0 loss to No. 3 seed Madeira in a Southwest District Division III South I sectional match at MHS.

The Mustangs continue the tournament 7 p.m. Thursday at home against Fayetteville-Perry.

The Blanchester season ends at 2-13.

BHS coach Kurt Ballinger said his squad played well early in the match with goalkeeper Lacie Tedrick recorded several saves to keep the score at 1-0.

But Madeira found the back of the net four times late in the half to take a 5-0 lead at halftime.

Lana Roy played inspired and Kyra Renick excelled in her new role as a defender, Ballinger said.

Tedrick finished the match with 24 saves.
