ADA — Ohio Northern University, ranked No. 23 in the country, outshot the Wilmington College women’s soccer team 23-2 to earn a 2-0 Ohio Athletic Conference victory Wednesday evening.
The Polar Bears (10-2-2, 4-0-0 OAC) struck for two goals in the first 26 minutes as Rose Nienaber broke the deadlock with a ninth-minute goal and Siena Ward doubled the hosts lead less than 20 minutes later.
Wilmington, which was outshot 11-0 in the first half, did fire two shots in the second 45 minutes — one from Abby Spirk and the other from Heidi Edens. One was on target, but Meagan Grierson made the save to earn the shutout.
Lauren Galloway took the loss in net for Wilmington with a seven-save performance.
Wilmington (7-4-1, 2-2-0 OAC) hosts Marietta College 7 p.m. Saturday.
