BETHEL-TATE – After opening with a win over Purcell Marian, the Blanchester wrestling team was defeated by Bethel-Tate 54-30 Wednesday in a Div. III Region 23 quarterfinal match in the OHSAA State Duals tournament.
The Wildcats advanced to the final match of the night with a 42-30 win over Purcell-Marian.
Against the Tigers, four forfeits by the Wildcats were too much to overcome.
Kyle Denier at 113 pounds, Brent Hopkins at 120 pounds and Clayton Schirmer at 126 pounds all won two matches on the night.
Austin Walker and Cade Huston also were victorious on the mat. Dale Sturgill, Hayden Tedrick and Ramiro Torres claimed forfeit victories.
