WILMINGTON — The Wilmington College women’s cross country team tallied seven of the top eight finishes in a convincing victory over Muskingum University in a dual meet Friday evening.

Sydney Yontz, the reigning Ohio Athletic Conference (OAC) Women’s Cross Country Runner of the Week, was the lone individual to finish the two-mile course in under 12 minutes as the freshman crossed the finish line in 11:49.08.

Fellow freshman Milena Wahl was not far behind with a time of 12:18.51 while Clinton-Massie graduate Katie Hughes (12:39.24) and Blanchester graduate Savannah Rhodes (12:37.23) were next to finish for the Fightin’ Quakers.

A trio of Quakers — Taylor Cooper (13:58.48), Clinton-Massie grad AJ Houseman (14:10.74) and Abbie Grieser (14:18.59) — were next to finish.

“The women ran really well tonight,” WC coach Ron Combs said. “Our goal was for everyone to run faster than the first meet of the year and nearly everyone did that.”

Wilmington will have a week off before heading to Northeast Ohio for the OAC Championships Nov. 2.
