WILMINGTON — The Wilmington College volleyball team struggled to find any offensive rhythm in a 25-12, 25-19, 25-8 loss to Baldwin Wallace University Saturday in Ohio Athletic Conference.

The win improves the Yellow Jackets to 21-5 overall and 3-4 in the OAC while the loss drops the Fightin’ Quakers to 3-22 overall and 0-7 in conference competition.

Baldwin Wallace won 12 of the first 14 points to take a commanding lead in set one. Wilmington mustered just one kill in the set, and it came with the score 24-10 off a roll shot from Taylor McCuistion.

The visitors took a big lead in set two, but this time, the hosts battled back from a 20-10 deficit using a long McCuistion service run that featured three straight aces. Wilmington got within 21-16, but Baldwin Wallace closed out the set. Set three proved similar to set one as the Yellow Jackets left Hermann Court with a straight-set victory.

McCuistion had four kills for the Quakers while Jillian Wesco, Morgan Loomis and Meghan Koch all had two kills. Karley Schlensker had 14 digs while Mariella Szrom chipped in three blocks.

Wilmington begins its last week of the regular season by traveling to Capital University Tuesday evening.
