BW scores lone goal, defeats WC women 1-0

BEREA – Baldwin Wallace University scored the game’s only goal in a 1-0 victory over the Wilmington College women’s soccer team on a rainy evening of Ohio Athletic Conference play on Saturday.

Baldwin Wallace held a 7-2 advantage in shots in the first half, but the game remained scoreless through 45 minutes. The only goal of the contest game early in the second half, the 48th minute to be exact, on an unfortunate bounce for the Fightin’ Quakers as an own goal proved to be the game-winner.

Lauren Galloway took the loss making six saves. The Yellow Jackets held an 11-6 advantage in shots and a 7-0 edge in shots on goal.

Tiffany Hayes and Heidi Edens both took two shots for the Quakers while Courtney Ryan fired one shot. A

Wilmington (8-6-1, 3-4-0 OAC), despite the loss, remains in sole possession of fifth place in the conference. The Quakers begin the final week of the regular season by hosting Capital University for Senior Night 7 p.m. Wednesday.
