OAC champs blank WC men’s soccer 2-0

WILMINGTON, Ohio — The Wilmington College men’s soccer team was defeated by No.7 John Carroll University 2-0 in the regular season finale Saturday at Townsend Field.

The contest was the final in green and white for seven Wilmington seniors and a ceremony was held prior to kickoff. The seniors are Igo Granja, Connor Wichman, Thompson Birch, Anton Berglund, Nati Wallis, Gabriel Nygard and JC Brewer.

The Fightin Quakers close out the 2019 season 10-7-2 overall and 3-5-1 in Ohio Athletic Conference play. The Blue Streaks improve to 15-2-2, 8-0-1 OAC and claim the OAC regular season championship.

John Carroll scored two goals late in the first half.

The Blue Streaks held an 8-6 shot advantage. Wilmington had four second half corner kicks but failed to score.

Bradyn Riffle had two saves in goal for Wilmington.
