Hillsboro takes 2 from Wilmington bowlers

HILLSBORO — Despite a monster trio of baker games, the Wilmington High School boys bowling team was defeated by Hillsboro by 11 pins Monday in the season opening match at Highland Lanes.

On the girls side, the Lady Hurricane was defeated 2,262 to 1,864. Ariel Comberger had games of 167 and 159 to lead WHS while Cassidy Cole came in with 134 and 151.

For the boys, Wilmington trailed by 179 pins going in to the baker games. Jordan Tackett led WHS with 193 and 185.

But in the bakers, the Hurricane had games of 224, 233 and 217 for 674 total. Hillsboro had 535 in the bakers but managed to hold on for the win.
