BATAVIA — The East Clinton bowling teams dropped matches to last year’s league champions Friday at Batavia Bowl.

Clermont Northeastern won both the boys and girls matches against the Astros.

On the girls side, coach Joe Davis was pleased with the baker games from his Lady Astros, “best part of our game,” but against a well-balanced CNE squad it was not enough.

East Clinton had baker games of 147 and 130. August Morgan finished with a 331 two-game series (167, 164) while Tessa Bosier had a 127 game and Josie Runk had a 136 game.

On the boys side, coach Dale Wallace said his Astros bowled right with the Rockets except in the first game. East Clinton lost the second game 719 to 718 and the bakers 539 to 521 (185, 147, 189).

But it was an 880 to 716 loss in the first game that set the teams apart.

Patrick Dotson had a 183 game while Freddy Morgan posted a 355 series (191, 168).
