BBK Final: Wilmington 61 East Clinton 41

LEES CREEK – Matt Butcher and Cam Coomer hit for 17 points each to help lead Wilmington to a 61-41 victory at East Clinton Tuesday in a non-league boys basketball game.

There were four ties and four lead changes in the opening period. The last lead change, with 50 seconds left, was the start of a 17-4 Wilmington spurt that spanned the rest of the half. The ‘Cane scored 12 straight at one point — threes by Kellen Baltazar and Butcher plus another deuce by Butcher, and a Coomer dunk and layup.

The Hurricane (2-1) nearly doubled its 31-19 halftime advantage in the third quarter on the strength of nine Brady Vilvens’ points. Vilvens finished the game with 11. East Clinton’s Gunner Neanover had all eight of his points in the third quarter.

Wilmington led by as much as 58-34 with 5:27 left in the contest.

Branson Smith and Quinton Tolle led the Astros (1-3) with 10 each.
