BLANCHESTER — Washington Junior High School edged Carlisle Saturday for the championship at the Blanchester Middle School Invitational wrestling tournament.

The young Blue Lions totaled 143 points while the young Indians had 138 points.

Wilmington was fifth with 90 points followed by Clinton- Massie with 85 and Blanchester with 71.

Caleb Sears of Blanchester defeated Mia Skinner of Wilmington by pin in 1:07 for the 80-pound championship.

Cash Mounce of Clinton-Massie pinned John Ayers of Walnut Hills in 19 seconds to win the 110-pound title.

Michael Mulvihill pinned Ian Coffey of Milton-Union in 58 seconds to win the 150-pound weight class crown.

James Deemer of Blanchester was runnerup at 86 pounds while Ty Stuckey of Wilmington was second at 92 pounds and Gatlin Newkirk of Clinton-Massie was second at 98 pounds. Also, Hunter Monds of CMMS was second at 128 pounds and PJ McKnight of Wilmington was runnerup by 1-0 decision at 245 pounds.

Third-place finishers were Darius Stewart of Wilmington at 86, Tyler Myers of Clinton-Massie at 116, Jude Huston of Blanchester at 142.
