TRENTON — Dom Davidson was the lone weight-class champion for Wilmington Saturday at the Edgewood Invitational wrestling tournament.

The Hurricane finished third overall with 179.5 points. Brookville won the three-team title race with 185 points while Simon Kenton (Ky.) was second with 181.5.

Davidson won a thrilling 10-9 decision over Nate Booth of Franklin Furnace Green for the 138-pound championship. Coach Kelly Tolliver said it was an action-packed match that went right down to the final seconds of the third period.

Logan Current, returning following a three-year hiatus because of injury, was runnerup at 195 pounds.

In the final team standings, Tolliver said Wilmington, Brookville and Simon Kenton were neck and neck through the final two rounds.

“It was a real nail-biter,” he said. “The whole team really came together and put together a great tournament, supporting each other along the entire way.”

WHS freshmen Jaden Snyder at 106 and Thane McCoy at 113 were both third — Snyder by pin in 1:32 and McCoy by pin in 4:04.

Sam Eastes at 145 and Kile Holland at 170 were both fourth-place finishers for WHS.
