NEW RICHMOND – Wilmington remained unbeaten in the SBAAC American Division Monday with a 53-33 win over New Richmond.

The Lady Hurricane is 4-0 in the American and 6-3 overall. New Richmond is 2-4 overall, 1-2 in the division.

The Lady ‘Cane had three players in double figure scoring, led by Sami McCord’s 15 points. Karlie Morgan tossed in 14 points and Jasmine Jamiel had 12 points.

Wilmington led 12-4 late in the first quarter before New Richmond closed with five straight points to make it 12-9 after one. McCord burst out of the gate with five points for WHS.

The Lady Hurricane scored six of the first eight points in the second to push its cushion to 18-11. McCord, again, had the hot hand with seven points.

In the third, Jamiel took over with nine points and Wilmington held a comfortable 13-point lead after three. WHS put on a full-court defense and extended its advantage.

Wilmington did miss five straight free throw opportunities in the middle two periods. WHS was 5 for 12 at the line for the game.

In the final period, Morgan had five points and WHS was never seriously threatened.
