FRANKLIN — A night after a 62-36 win over Wilmington, Franklin had its shooting shoes on again Saturday in an 85-73 win over Clinton-Massie.

The Wildcats were 17 for 35 from three-point range against the Falcons with Zack Minton leading the way with 28 points. He made 7 of 9 three-pointers while Noah Rich hit 5 of 7 from beyond the arc.

“Unbelievable,” CM coach Todd Cook said of the Franklin long-range shooting antics.

On the Massie side, Nate Baker led the way with 22 points while Tate Olberding tossed in 14. Jordan Redman had 13 for Massie.

“We turned the corner tonight, I hope,” Cook said. “We played very well.”

The hot-shooting Wildcats put 29 points on the scoreboard in the first period with Minton and Ryan Russell scoring eight each. Baker kept pace with seven.

The ‘Cats continued their torrid shooting in the second and had an NBA-like 54 at halftime. Minton erupted with 17 points in the second period alone.

However the Falcons were hanging in there and were down just 12 at the break, 54-42. Baker led Massie with 13 points at halftime. Austin Faucett scored all 10 of his points in the second quarter.

Franklin slowed a bit in the third but led 74-57 after three. Olberding had six for Massie and Redman scored five. Franklin had 7 three-point field goals in the third.

In the fourth, Franklin made 6 of 7 at the line to maintain a comfortable margin. Baker and Blake Ireland had five each in the fourth for the Falcons.
