As a team, Massie was 24 of 41 from the free throw line. They were 10 of 16 in the fourth period, with Chowning hitting on 5 of her 6 fourth quarter attempts.

Batavia was 10 for 22 at the free throw line, including 5 of 14 in the second half.

Massie led 31-22 at halftime but the difference was three, 41-38, going to the final period.

“We played pretty well in the first half and came out a little flat in the third,” CM coach Tim McGraw said. “We played with a little more urgency at both ends of the floor in the fourth and was able to win the game.”

Mckenzie Avery had a “big” three-pointer in the fourth quarter to give Massie “some momentum,” McGraw said. Chowning and Avery Cranmer converted big free throws for the win.
