MT. ORAB — Clinton-Massie’s Blake Seaman was the lone county champion but Wilmington finished fourth Saturday in the Hammer & Anvil Invitational wrestling tournament at Western Brown High School.
Seaman pinned Jonah Bowers of Campbell Co. (Ky.) in 20 seconds in the championship match to claim the 126-pound title.
Lebanon was the overall team champion with 234 points while Campbell Co. was second 205 and Northmont third 195.5. Wilmington had 169 and Massie 165.5 to round out the top five in the 22-team event.
Sam Eastes of WHS was second at 145. He was defeated by Tristen Spalding of Walton-Verona (Ky.) in the championship match. Dalton Garrison took second for WHS. He lost to Ethan Marsh of Lebanon 3-1 in the 160 finale. Also for Wilmington, Thane McCoy was third at 113.
Grant Moorman of CMHS was runnerup at 113-pounds, dropping a 3-1 decision to Zack Kapper of Watkins Memorial in the title match and Robby Frederick was second at 152 following a 10-0 loss to Andrew Knick of Northmont in the championship. Also for Massie, Lane Schulz was third at 285.
