BATAVIA — A late run by Batavia in the final minutes of the game ended Clinton-Massie’s winning aspirations Monday and resulted in a 49-42 loss for the Falcons in SBAAC American Division play.

The Bulldogs led 41-40 with approximately 1:30 to play, coach Tim McGraw said.

“We gave up about four offensive rebounds in a row that just hurt us,” the CM coach said.

Batavia improves to 8-12 overall, 4-6 in the American.

Clinton-Massie goes to 3-16 overall, 1-8 in division play.

Massie led 16-7 after one but Batavia erased that deficit and took a 22-21 lead into halftime. Massie missed four of seven free throws in the second. The Bulldogs made it 32-28 after three periods.

Batavia allowed Massie to stay in the game by making just seven of 15 free throws in the fourth. Kennedy Williams came off the BHS bench with nine fourth quarter points.

Kenzi Avery had a solid consistent game for the Falcons, finishing with 16 points.

“We are getting good looks just not making the shots when we need to,” McGraw said.
