ADAMS TOWNSHIP — With a strong performance at the free throw line, the Clinton-Massie girls basketball team held off New Richmond 40-35 Monday in the SBAAC American Division finale at Brian P. Mudd Court.

Clinton-Massie closes its American Division schedule at 2-8, 5-17 overall.

The Lady Falcons made 5 of 6 at the free throw line in the final minute, coach Tim McGraw said. In all, Massie was 8 of 9 at the line in the fourth and 10 of 12 for the game.

McGraw said Patience Chowning and Miranda Crawford both made big throws down the stretch to help seal the win for the Lady Falcons.

New Richmond was equally adept from the stripe, hitting on 12 of 13 free throws.

“Nice win to end regular season,” McGraw said. “Really played well as a team.”

McGraw said Maddie Phipps stepped up as did McKenna Branham. McKenzie Avery also played well late in the game.

Hannah Doss, a perimeter sharpshooter for CMHS, struggled from long range, McGraw said, but attacked the rim and was able to hit 5 of 5 free throws in the win. She led CM with 12 points. Avery had 11 points.
