MONROE – Clinton-Massie ended its regular season with a 71-47 loss at Monroe Monday.

The Hornets (12-10) stung the Falcons (7-15) for 10 straight points in what would end up being a 23-5 run that turned a 22-16 deficit into a 39-27 advantage.

Leading 50-43 with 6:03 to go in the contest, Monroe put away Massie with a 14-0 spurt.

“We fought so hard in the first half, we just wore ourselves out. We couldn’t get anything to fall in the second half. We forced some long shots, which led to long rebounds and easy layups for them,” CM head coach Dustin Eads said.

Monroe swept all three games Monday with wins in the JV (52-20) and freshman contests (43-32).

Monroe’s Nick Osterman led all scorers in the JV game with 14. Griffin Laake and Tanner Olberding shared Massie team-high honors with eight each.

Tanner Perkins poured in 21 to lead the Monroe freshmen to victory. Zach Chowning had eight for the Massie freshmen.
