The Rodger O. Borror eighth grade girls basketball team was defeated by Miami Trace 41-39 Thursday in the semifinal round of the South Central Ohio League tournament.

The loss ends the Lady Hurricane season at 14-2.

“I always told the girls in close games it will be won or lost at the foul line,” ROB coach Ken Fliehman said. “We hit only 14 of 29 attempts. Turnovers were in double digits with 17 so that is too many turnovers against a good team like Miami Trace.”

Olivia Veidt had 12 points, 18 rebounds and five steals. Coach Fliehman said Veidt’s play — she had her best defensive game, the coach noted — was important because former starter Karlie Morgan was out with an injury.

Jasmine Jamiel had 11 points, five steals and a rebound. Sami McCord had 10 points and four rebounds. Sophie Blessing had a point and a rebound. Allie Kees had four points, four rebounds and three steals. Kendra McKenna had a point and three rebounds.
