Snow Hill Country Club will host a PGA Junior League this summer.

Deadline to sign up for the program is May 1, according to SHCC club pro Mike Deters.

“PGA Junior League is designed to bring a Little League baseball atmosphere to the game of golf,” Deters said.

Teams of boys and girls, ages 13 and under, play in a structured league environment. Teams in the league are expected to play five or six league matches against area teams. Players will receive numbered jerseys, golf balls and bag tags.PGA and LPGA professionals will captain the teams. Play will be a two-person scramble format.

During the season Deters will conduct weekly clinics and practices for the team members.

“I think this is a great way for kids to get more involved with the game of golf and help develop their skills,” Deters said.
