Orange hanky-waving Wilmington High School basketball fans greeted Hurricane players as they entered Cintas Center Saturday night for the Div. I Cincinnati Regional championship game against Centerville. The Hurricane defeated the Elks 48-28 to improve to 27-1 on the season and advance to the 94th Ohio State Boys Basketball Championships in Columbus. This is the first time in WHS history a basketball team has advanced to the state Final Four. Wilmington will play at 5:15 p.m. Friday against 28-0 Lima Senior in one of the semifinal games at Ohio State’s Value City Arena. The Div. I state championship game will be played 8:30 p.m. Saturday at Value City Arena.

The WHS student section sported orange hankies and black Elite 8 T-shirts for Saturday’s win against Centerville.
