Ring the Bell: WHS grad gets kicking duties for Temple

Wilmington High School graduate Rory Bell will handle the place-kicking duties this week for the Temple Owls football team.

Temple is scheduled to travel to Tulane to play the Green Wave. Kickoff is set for Noon Saturday. The game is available for viewing on ESPN-Plus.

A 2020 WHS grad, Bell handled the Owls’ kickoff duties in the third game against Memphis. He average 59.5 yards per kickoff after Temple average 50.3 yards the first two weeks.

Bell had two of his six kicks result in touchbacks. The team had no touchbacks in the previous 13 kickoffs the first two games.

The opponents average return yards on kickoff the first team games was more than 22 yards per return. With Bell, the foes averaged 18 yards per kickoff return.

A criminal justice major at Temple University in Philadelphia, Bell was a four-year starter as a kicker and punter for Scott Killen’s Hurricane.
