WHS freshmen storm back for 35-30 win

WASHINGTON CH — After a slow start, the Wilmington High School freshman boys basketball team defeated Washington Senior 35-30 Monday at WSHS.

The Blue Lions led 13-4 after the first quarter and held a 20-11 advantage at halftime.

But the Hurricane stormed the scoreboard in the third period, taking a 26-24 lead going to the fourth quarter. Bryson Platt drained a trio of three-pointers in the third as Wilmington took the lead.

In the final quarter, despite making just 2 of 6 free throws, the Hurricane held on for the win.

Platt finished with 11 points while Mikey Brown and Levi Cochran had 7 points each.

Coleden May led Washington with 8 points.
