EC at Summers Court as girls basketball pairings announced

Wilmington will host six Division III girls basketball teams beginning Saturday in the sectional tournament.

East Clinton, Norwood, Cincinnati Hills Christian Academy, Bethel-Tate, Taft and Mariemont are the six teams.

Play begins Saturday at 11 a.m. at Fred Summers Court.

The tournament seedings and pairings were announced Sunday by the Southwest District Athletic Board.

In the Division I Cincinnati 3 sectional at Lakota East High School, Wilmington is the No. 24 seed and will play No. 23 Seton 7:30 p.m. Feb. 10. The winner gets unbeaten and No. 2 seed Mason in the second round. Wilmington, with point guard Sophie Huffman, lost to Mason earlier in the season.

In the Division II Middletown I sectional at Middletown High School, Clinton-Massie is the No. 12 seed and will play No. 4 seed Hamilton Badin 5 p.m. Feb. 8. The winner plays No. 10 seed Chaminade Julienne in the next round.

In the Division III Wilmington sectional at Fred Summers Court, East Clinton is the No. 7 seed. The Astros will play 7:30 p.m. Feb. 16 against either No. 3 Mariemont or No. 8 Taft. The Taft-Mariemont game is 1:30 p.m. Feb. 13 at FSC.

In the Division III Cincinnati 2 sectional at Fairfield High School, Blanchester is the No. 14 seed. The Ladycats will meet either No. 2 Williamsburg or No. 15 Deer Park 5:30 p.m. Feb. 18. The WHS-DP game is set for 10 a.m. Feb. 13.
