ADA — The Wilmington College wrestling team competed in its third and final OAC meet of the 2020-2021 season Sunday as they took on Otterbein University and Ohio Northern University.

The Quakers gained three individual victories in the first match against Otterbein, a 39-9 defeat.

Shadrach Brausch, Avery Bair and Jack Probus all won matches. Probus kicked things off with a win over Cole Jackson, 9-5, in the 133-pound weight class, earning the team’s first three points. Bair followed with a 5-3 win over Levi Kibler in the 165-pound weight class.

Brausch, who has been a consistent force for the Quakers, won his third individual match in the last three matches, defeating Otterbein’s Bradley Minnard at 285 in a dominant 12-6 decision.

Probus also kicked off a second round with a pin at 2:38 in the 125-wieght class. This gave him a second win on the day as the Quakers and Cardinals added extra matches. Wilmington also took on Ohio Northern in another series of extra wrestling.

“We wrestled well,” WC head coach Justin Kihn said. “We continue to be encouraged by the way the guys learn new things. Avery Bair was able to pick up another win. Jack Probus picked up two wins, one being a pin. Shadrach Brausch also had another great day with three wins and two of them by pin. The rest of the team was very close in a lot of matches and could turn the results around after some small changes. We look forward to more training with all of them. The future is bright.”

The Quakers round out the shortened 2020-2021 season going 0-3 and finishing seventh in the Ohio Athletic Conference and winning six individual matches.
