Prior to the league tournament Saturday, the East Clinton boys and girls bowling teams had a couple of record and noteworthy performances.

On Friday night, Clermont Northeastern visited Royal Z Lanes.

The Rockets girls team leads the SBAAC National Division but East Clinton came away with a 1,810 to 1,763 win. The loss was the first of the season in the league for CNE.

“Coach (Dale) Wallace and I kept telling the girls the way they’ve improved (this season) they can be CNE,” EC girls coach Joe Davis said.

East Clinton won the team games 756 to 741 then finished things off with solid baker games, including a 173 finale.

The boys were defeated by CNE 2,002 to 1,873. Runk had 178 game, Gilliland 185 and Morgan 301.

The boys lost to Hillsboro on Thursday but Freddy Morgan had a monster night. He had a 254 game to open things and break his own single game record. He followed that with another record game of 257. The 511 two-game series also is a school record and Morgan became the first EC bowler to eclipse 500 in a two-game series.

The final team tally was 2,621 for Hillsboro and 2,107 for EC. The Indians won the Frontier Athletic Conference championship the night before, Davis said.

Lukas Runk had a 159 game while Andy Gilliland had a 162 game. Zack Vaughn had a personal best game of 171 and 311 series.

The girls also lost to Hillsboro 2,313 to 1,860, but the 1,860 establishes a new record team team.

Josie Runk led EC with a 363 series (205, 158).

August Morgan had a 345 series while Tessa Bosier had a 306 series.
