National leader downs Clinton-Massie by 13

ADAMS TOWNSHIP – Clinton-Massie remained in search of its first win of the season after dropping a 56-43 decision to SBAAC National Division leader Georgetown Saturday.

“These last couple games, with the exception of Western Brown, we’ve played (the top teams in each division, including Batavia and Georgetown), and competed with them this second go-around. That’s a testament to my kids still believing in us and this program. They want to keep coming in here and competing, and keep fighting, and hopefully get this monkey off our back soon,” said CM head coach Steve Graves.

Georgetown (15-4) took control of the game after a 6-0 spurt broke a 10-all deadlock early in the second quarter. The G-Men would never trail again.

Georgetown led by no more than 10 in the first half, 24-14 with 41 seconds to go before the break.

With seven straight points late in the third quarter, Georgetown went up 40-26.

With eight straight points midway through the final period, Georgetown amassed its largest lead of the evening, 50-33.

Massie (0-17) cut Georgetown’s lead to single-digits on five occasions in the second half, but could get no closer than 33-26 with 1:48 left in the third quarter.

Kody Zantene and Blake Ireland shared team-high scoring honors for Clinton-Massie with 12 points each.

Nate Kratzer and Blake Tolle shared team-high scoring honors for the G-Men with 14 points each.
