MORROW — The Wilmington High School softball team split a non-league doubleheader Saturday with Little Miami.

The Lady Hurricane lost the first game 9-2 but came back to win the nightcap 5-3, coach Glen Blessing said.

In the first game, Little Miami scored six runs in the first game. Blessing said WHS pitcher Courtney Smart “made nice adjustments after the first inning and kept the ball down.”

In the second game, Kelsi Bair started on the mound and “did a good job keeping their batters off balance” and earned the win.

Madi Flint closed out the game with two strong innings to earn the save.

Lillian Hebb had a good at-bat in the seventh inning to give WHS a key insurance run, taking a 4-3 lead to a 5-3 advantage. “She fought off a few two-strike pitches before getting hit by the pitch and forinc an insurance run home,” Blessing said.
