Marietta tops WC lacrosse 22-2

WILMINGTON – The Wilmington College men’s lacrosse team fell in Ohio Athletic Conference action Saturday to Marietta 22-2 at Townsend Field.

Reed Beavers, the goalkeeper for the Fightin’ Quakers, posted a season-high number of saves with 18, just two short of his career high of 20 saves recorded back in 2019 against Muskingum University.

Garrett Murrell and Jonathan Lokey both scored goals in the second half for Wilmington.

The Pioneers’ Connor Ficke and Logan Podgorski led the way with a total of seven goals and five assists, followed by five others scoring at least twice as Marietta outshot the Quakers 47-13.

Wilmington (0-6) will start the second half of the season 1 p.m. Saturday at Capital University.
